Why I wrote it
I built my professional website using ChatGPT and Codex, without writing the code myself. I am not a developer, so I had to learn how to give useful instructions, recognise when the output was wrong and make decisions about things I had never worked with before.
The tools could write code and build pages, but they could not tell me if the website was doing what I actually needed.
That experience became the basis for this book.
What the book covers
Across 15 short chapters, I explain how I approached building a website with AI, including how to brief an AI coding agent, review its work, deal with unexpected changes and keep control of the project.
It is written for non-technical people who want to use AI to build something themselves, rather than learn software development first.
The book also covers mistakes I made and things I would do differently.
How this book was written
AI didn't just help me build the website. It also helped me write this book.
I used AI as a ghostwriter to turn my experience, ideas and practical lessons into a structured manuscript. The subject matter, editorial direction and decisions about what belonged in the book remained mine.
I think it is important to be transparent about that, particularly in a book about working with AI. The tools can do a considerable amount of the work, but the person using them is still responsible for the result.
